The original painting was completed by Wendy in an Oil Painting class and Art Retreat in 2013 with the DaySpring Art Worship Team in Kangaroo Valley, nestled between the Southern Highlands and NSW South Coast. Artist and Sculptor Derek Watt, whose work was often shown in The Gallery on Moss Vale Road, is given credit for the ‘permission for use’ of his subject and style, for the inspiration, and for his gentle intuitive style of teaching.

Symbolism of the Poppy in Prophetic Paintings.

The poppy is the enduring symbol of remembrance. ‘Lest we forget’ means to remember that lives were lost, laid down and taken during the turmoil of war, but the poppy also symbolises the peace of sleep and regeneration and the eternal life of the soul.

Fields flooded with red poppies have come to symbolise bloodshed. Millions of soldiers saw the red poppies in Flanders fields on the Western Front during the war, and today the red poppy universally symbolises the blood sacrifice of those who paid for our freedom.

Poppies have a significant spiritual meaning. They symbolise the blood of Jesus, the blood that speaks through eternity. “The blood of the lamb that was slain before the foundation of time.” Prophetically the colour red speaks of the passion of Christ.
